In researching the 1970s group The East I learned allot of things about their thoughts on food and fasting. Members of the East did not follow my Christian traditions, yet they taught allot of about fasting something that is important Christians and non Christians. For disciples of Jesus Christ, lent is a time of meditating on the suffering savior on the cross at Calvary so we fast. During this time of year we restrict our diet and spend time reflecting on the meaning of the cross until Easter Sunday. Unfortunately Lenten fasting is a practice is on the decline. Here is something to consider from the East, a fruit and juice fast. It rejuvenates the body and neutralizes the acid buildup in the body that causes bronchitis. Did you know that exercise and carefully chewing food before swallowing along with periodic fasting increases one’s resistance to bronchitis?
