Diet and Skin Care

Based in Washington, DC the Roots Family Organization (RFO) published some groundbreaking research on skin care in the late 1970s. The Brooklyn based paper of the East republished the findings in Black News. RFO found that a diet with daily servings of an abundance of fresh produce served raw in salads, smoothies, and cooked dishes along with a regular regiment of vitamins and supplements is essential to maintaining healthy skin. Also eating the nutrient rich skin of produce such as apples, carrots, broccoli, orange and lemon zest, and red potatoes is excellent for our skin. Whole-grain bread is also important for our skin’s health because of the fiber that it adds in the process of eliminating waste in the colon.[i]
