Black Farmers and CMA Stores

Food rebels, the CMA became the structure for advancing the collective economic development of African Americans including improving employment opportunities within their own food system. By the spring of 1930, African American farmers increasingly contacted CMA administrators expressing their interest in becoming suppliers for CMA stores. Historically the NNBL facilitated making connections between black farmers, distributors, and retailers at its annual conferences.
