According to Naturopath Dr. Fulton Alvenia M. Fulton (1893 to 1999), vitamin A helps the body resist disease. It's found in cod liver oil, green leafy vegetables, and carrots (it's also found in dairy products such as milk, cream and egg yolks). Vitamin B-1 thymine protects nerve tissues and produces energy from sugars and starches. It's found in whole grains, and in almost all vegetables. Caution, vitamin B-1 is a water-soluble vitamin so one should drink the water it's cooking such as pot liquor (the delicious murky green brown consommé left in a cooking pot used to make collards, kale, or other green leafy festivals popular in the US South.) Fulton writes, the way we prepare food is as important as the food itself if we desire the maximum amount of nutrients in it.
