Our skin is the largest organ of our body and just like other organs of the body it needs to be fed nutrient rich food. The skin thrives when it as sufficient vitamin A, C, D, and E. Carrots, broccoli, and greens such as dandelion greens, collards, kale, and turnip greens are rich in Vitamin A. Brewer’s yeast, barley, and vitamins are great sources of Vitamin D. Our skin absorbs vitamin D when we spend time in the sun. Citrus fruits and the skin of lemons, oranges, and red potatoes are good sources of Vitamin C. The liquid or pot liquor left in the bottom of a pot used to make greens is full of nutrient rich vitamins that are better to be ingested then discarded. DYI applications: 1) facial: combine honey and oatmeal and equal parts, mix and apply to your face, let sit for 20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. 2) bath oil: half cup of olive or sesame oil with a few drops of your preferred fragrance. Shake well before adding 3 tablespoons to your warm bathwater. Add to the fused water and enjoy a wonderful bath.[i]
