Victory Gardens Part 4
Here’s part two in our series on victory gardens. During World War II United States government allocated and used stayed home land for communities to organize subsistence gardens. The war efforts resulted in making sure troops food needs came first. Why not employ a similar strategy today to meet the needs of the marginalized struggling with food insecurity? There are plenty of blighted public lots and spaces that state officials could lease out for free as public garden spaces. Those in the know about gardening could offer their know-how to the unexperienced. Others who know how to cook that which you grow could step in and offer live or online cooking classes.
