More from our series on gastro-politics. The term is not regional, gastro-politics happens everywhere in the world. Gastro politics are not limited to relationships between men and women. Gastro-politics exist in relationships between women, between elites, and between members of the same ethnic group. The less democratic and egalitarian a society and or region is, the more pronounced are the gastro-political messages are from superiors to inferiors using food access, quality, quantity, and food related labor. When it comes to gastro-politics, the more power one has the more say they have about all things related food drink (especially alcoholic) labor, access, and consumption.
