In the 1970s, my Dad removed white sugar from his diet and added blackstrap molasses and honey as sweeteners. Gone were the Hershey bars stashed in his car; strange-looking protein bars from the health food store replaced them. He also added to his glove-compartment stash hard candies that came in a clear rapper made with sesame and honey. I noticed dad taking vitamin supplements and he started exercising. These changes had occurred as my dad became a disciple of Dick Gregory.
