Dr. Fulton's Column, Radio, and TV Show
Dr. Alvenia Fulton (1893-1999) wrote “Eating for Your Health and Strength,” a column in the Black-owned-and-operated Chicago Defender. Moreover, she created syndicated radio and TV shows in Chicago to market her business. On them, she talked about her work and ways to improve people’s health. She also ran commercials about the products she sold on the show. When she recommended products that help cure a problem on air that she sold at her store, crowds of people came to the store to purchase them. Sometimes crowds as large as a hundred people would try to squeeze in the store, which could hold about 50 people.
