Dr. Alvenia Moody Fulton (1893-1999) was a world-renowned nutritionist and naturopath from Pulaski in Giles County, Tennessee. Here are more of her thoughts on aging and green drinks. As you age getting adequate nutrition is even more important. Some suggestions for doing so include introducing juicing and green drinks to your morning routine. Fresh-juiced raw fruit and vegetable juices are excellent for us all and especially helpful as we age. Make customized great tasting shakes and smoothies with fresh juice, milk, and plant based milk substitutes made from almonds, cashews, coconut, oats etc. Add ingredients such as your favorite frozen fruit, protein powders and ground flax seed, honey or stevia and some greens (kale, collards, chard etc). Add ground cinnamon, ginger, and turmeric to taste before blending. Dr. Fulton the went on to say, “natural foods, healthy habits, regular medical check-ups and meaningful activity can do much to prevent premature aging and retard the diseases of old age. . . a scientifically balanced diet can help to keep in condition the blood, the tissues, arteries and cells. The majority of people “should live much longer than they do, and most of us could live . . . more abundantly than we do.”
