This is an annotation for a WPA era Kentucky eggnog recipe. It’s from the America eats collection housed in the Library of Congress archives. 

“Before prohibition on every Kentucky bar there was a giant punch bowl full of eggnog a week or so before Christmas until well after the new year. In the home it made its appearance on Christmas morning and there was always an ample supply, even for the [ African-American domestic servants]” 

Kentucky Eggnog Recipe

Ingredients

12 eggs

12 tablespoons of your best whiskey

12 tablespoons of sugar

12 tablespoons of Jamaican rum

1 and ½ pints heavy cream whipped.

Instructions

Beat the yolks and sugar together until very light. Then add the liquor slowly, next to the whites, beaten to a stiff froth, and then one pint and a half of cream, whipped.
