Food Writer Freda De Knight

Because of systemic racism, African-American food writers had their careers truncated with restrictions on where they could publish their work. I decided to share their stories in a series. I welcome your comments at info@FredOpiespeaks. I heard a great Interview on one of my favorite podcasts, Good Food with host Evan Kleiman on Public radio station KCRW in Santa Monica, California. The interview was about food writer Freda De Knight The author of A Date with a Dish. Based on the recipes of African-American home cooks, the cookbook had been essential reading in the 1950s.  De Knight served as the Long time food editor for Ebony magazine. and the founder of Ebony Fashion Fair -  the magazine's traveling fashion show.
